Rodney D. Joslin Campus

South Loop
Formerly called the South Loop campus, the Joslin campus was founded in 1997 and is the original campus of the Perspectives Charter Schools network. Since September 2004, the Joslin Campus has been located at the award-winning Perkins + Will designed building and currently serves 365 students. In spring 2008, the building was renamed for Perspectives’ late founding Board Chairman, Rodney D. Joslin.
Features:
- Provide small-school learning environment with diverse student body of about 392 students from across the city
- SQRP growth scores were the highest possible for the class of 2019 and in the second highest tier for the class of 2018.
- AP classes and an accelerated pathway for high achieving students as well as opportunity for Dual Enrollment and early college credit
- offers electives like art, fitness, blended learning opportunities for math + reading, humanities and STEM electives
- Students use the city + region as a classroom to provide our students with learning opportunities outside of the classroom
Perspectives/IIT Math & Science Academy
Grades 7-12
Bronzeville
Located in the former Raymond Elementary School building in the Bronzeville community, our partnership with the Illinois Institute of Technology coupled with the leadership of Dr. Norman Lederman and Dr. Judith Lederman define the unique education model focused on scientific inquiry and problem-solving in math, science and all subjects.
Features:
- Provide students with a state-of-the-art STEM education. We offer a variety of courses that advance students’ math and science knowledge in a hands-on, project-based way.
- Access to brand new, cutting edge tech lab that features new software, including Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
- Our award-winning HS robotics team was FIRST Robotics Midwest Regional Champions
- Middle school uses a personalized learning curriculum to meet the needs of each unique student – our personalized learning lab for students to enjoy is currently under construction!
- 24/7 access to computer-based learning tools for reading and math that students can use at home
Perspectives High School of Technology

Auburn Gresham
Located in the former Calumet High School building in the Auburn Gresham community, TECH seeks to integrate the use and understanding of technology throughout our college preparatory curriculum, providing students with a competitive advantage in college and beyond. Students take advanced technology courses in a modern computing environment that supports server-based computing as well as web-based applications. Our tools include tablet computing, traditional desktops, and both wired/fixed and wireless/mobile thin clients.
Features:
- Students become Adobe Certified by demonstrating proficiency in Adobe digital communications tools.
- Tech partners with organizations like The Posse Foundation and OneGoal (both organizations work with HS students to earn 4-yr, full-tuition leadership scholarships).
- Students have access to technology tools include tablets, desktops, and fixed/wired and wireless/mobile thin clients.
- Students take advanced technology courses in a modern computing environment.
- We’re always on the lookout for exciting learning opportunities for our students. Example: One of our students earned one of 30 spots in Kanye West’s new program called “Got Bars” that provides access to premium arts instruction through open mics, rap battles and musical production to improve skills in young people.
Perspectives Leadership Academy
Grades 9-12
Auburn Gresham
Located in the former Calumet High School building in the Auburn Gresham community, PLA has a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and social justice. PLA has various community partnerships that enhance the educational experience of our scholars. We partner with professionals from EY to provide mentorship and special workshops to our scholars.
Features:
- Our students are exposed to entrepreneurial training and opportunities through Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE); PLA students placed 1st and 2nd place and 3rd citywide.
- Our seniors earned over 10 million dollars in scholarships this year, and were accepted into nearly 500 colleges and universities.
- We partner with EY (global professional services organization that works with companies to maximize their business opportunities) to provide mentors to students interested in pursuing entrepreneurial opportunities
- PLA offers small advisories that allow for additional support and achieving goals
- PLA offers elective courses in environmental action, leadership, film and women/gender studies.
Perspectives Middle Academy
Grades 6-8
Auburn Gresham
Located in the former Calumet High School building in the Auburn Gresham community, Perspectives Middle Academy (PMA) focuses on personalized instruction to accelerate academic growth. PMA is the only charter school in the city with a full-service health center. As a result of the Elev8 grant from the Atlantic Philanthropies and our partnership with LISC and the Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation, PMA offers medical care through an onsite, full service health center.
Features:
- Our middle school provides small-group, personalized instruction which allows students to work at their own pace
- We offer free after school programs, including Culinary Arts, Social Club, Peace Team, Fitness, Game Club, Dance, Girls Mentoring, Tutoring, and Band for all PMA students
- We offer free athletic programs, including Basketball (boy/girl), Track & Field (boy/girl), cheerleading and flag football, Girls Volleyball and Softball.
- PMA partners with Summit Learning to provide an educational tool that is comprehensive to students and allows parents to see their students as they progress.
- We offer intervention classes to meet the needs of students who are in need of additional support in the areas of reading and/or mathematics.
